BRIXTON WEDDING VENUE

100 Barrington was built in 1879, starting life as a furniture factory. Now, it’s been transformed into a marvellous events venue, with the original brickwork, high ceilings with exposed beams and an open floor plan.

With over 1500 sq ft of space, it’s a true blank canvas situated in the heart of Brixton between Coldharbour Lane and Brixton Station Road. It’s just waiting for you to bring it to life with your ultimate wedding vision.

100 BARRINGTON WEDDING VENUE

The exposed brick and ceiling beams give 100 Barrington a truly industrial feel, harking back to its roots as a Victorian factory. This is easily one of the best warehouse venues in London.

Situated on Barrington road, as its name suggests, this multi-purpose space is just a short walk from Brixton station (on the Victoria line) making it easily accessible from other areas of South London and Central London.

They do have a wedding licence, so you can hold both your ceremony and reception in this warehouse. Thanks to their late licence, your party can also continue until 2am! However, do remember that you always have to give notice of your wedding to your local registry office, even if you’re not planning to get married at the office itself.

The venue is a dry hire venue, though they do have a bar that couples are welcome to use, as well as plenty of unique furniture such as their Bavarian beer tables and Chesterfield sofas.

WHERE TO GET READY AT BARRINGTON

100 Barrington doesn’t have on site accommodation, so you have a few options of where to get ready, and you can have a look at the weddings below for some inspiration of where to start out your day.

Suggestions from previous weddings include;

The Hoxton, Southwark
Local South East London Airbnb
The Crown & Greyhound, Dulwich
The Windmill Pub & Hotel, Clapham

WEDDING CEREMONIES AT BARRINGTON

You can host your ceremony at 100 Barrington with a local registrar. Alternatively you can get married at a local registry office (Southwark, Lambeth or one of the London town halls), and have your reception at Barrington.

A few of my couples have had their ceremonies at Dulwich College and Battersea Park before heading to 100 Barrington for their wedding breakfast.

Or alternatively, you could hire a humanist celebrant, or have a friend conduct a ceremony (there are less restrictions with this).

If you’re moving from one location to another – you could always treat your guests to a vintage London bus ride!

WEDDING RECEPTION AT 100 BARRINGTON

The great thing about 100 Barrington is that there are so many ways that you host your guests, your speeches and your meal.

Many of my couples have chosen to have their speeches outside in the courtyard, along with some music. There’s such a great relaxed energy where everyone is standing outside, drink in hand listening to speeches. Alternatively, you can use the courtyard for drinks and a welcome, followed by speeches in the main room.

The bar area is always full of guests catching up, and often enjoying a signature cocktail (espresso martinis anyone?)

After your speeches, all your guests can head out into the courtyard to mingle while the excellent Barrington team turnover the main room, clearing the tables and making space for the dance floor. And if you’d like – you could set up beer pong, or a late night snack (a falafel truck went down a treat at Caroline & Tolga’s wedding!)

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO GET MARRIED AT 100 BARRINGTON?

If your wedding is taking place on Friday – Saturday, you’re looking at £7,330 plus VAT. If you’re planning on a Sunday – Thursday celebration, it’s £6,160 plus VAT.

Remember that 100 Barrington is a dry-hire venue, so you’ll need to add in other expenses such as catering, lighting, glassware and decor. You can find out more about their pricing here.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT 100 BARRINGTON

100 Barrington itself is a perfect backdrop for portraits throughout the day. In the afternoon, the light often hits the courtyard and bathes it in a perfect sunshiney glow. I’m a big fan of the wooden doors at the back of the courtyard, and the long courtyard is the perfect space for a giant confetti welcome!

Other than the iconic rainbow wall just around the corner, there are a couple other favourite spots around the venue that are perfect for a quick wander as a couple, or with your wedding party. And being Brixton, you’re almost always guaranteed a London bus backdrop!

You can use the courtyard a few times (especially if all your guests are inside, just before you both enter your reception), or pop outside for a walk in between courses surrounded by the sights and sounds of London.
